NovaWurks is looking for an individual to join our collaborative team responsible for developing innovative space products for commercial and government customers. The ideal candidate would have a combination of technical skills, personal qualities, and mechanical experience that would enable them to excel in the position. The successful candidate will help us design, develop, and devise our SLEGO™ modules and conformal spacecraft.

  • To design, develop, test, and optimize the mechanical systems required for SLEGO spacecraft, while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and working collaboratively with other team members.
  • Design and development: Responsible for designing the configuration of mechanical systems required for a spacecraft, such as supports, propulsion systems, life support systems, and other mechanical components.
  • Testing and analysis: Conduct testing and analysis of the mechanical systems to ensure that they meet all performance requirements and are safe for use in space.
  • Optimization: Work to optimize the mechanical systems to reduce weight and improve efficiency, while still meeting all performance and safety requirements.
  • Materials selection: Responsible for selecting materials for the mechanical systems that can withstand the harsh environment of space, including extreme temperatures, radiation, and vacuum conditions.
  • Documentation: Responsible for documenting the design, development, and testing of the mechanical systems, including any modifications or upgrades.
  • Collaboration: They would work closely with other engineers, technicians, and project managers to ensure that the spacecraft is designed and built to the required specifications and meets all performance requirements.
  • Prequement: Identify potential suppliers of goods and services required by the company. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure that they meet the company’s requirements for quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Safety: The mechanical engineer would be responsible for ensuring that all mechanical systems are designed and built to meet all safety regulations and standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering (or similar) OR 4 years of engineering experience.
    • Note: New/recent graduates will be considered if they can demonstrate exemplary capabilities and experience implementing designs in school or personal projects in lieu of professional experience. 
  • 1 + Year in computer-aided design (CAD) software like Solidworks, AutoCAD, CATIA and Fusion 360.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • United States citizenship is required.
  • 2+ years of experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Capable to perform second-party verifications and visually inspect mechanical assemblies to drawings, engineering specifications, and written assembly, integration, and test procedures.
